Back from the Dead – Philipp Otto Runge

Philipp Otto Runge, Fire Lily

“How can I bring an artist alive for you who has already been dead for 200 years?” The Brooklyn Rail published this essay earlier this year by Richard Tuttle  on the German artist Philipp Otto Runge (1777 – 1810). Tuttle had a major show at the Hugh Lane, Dublin recently and was the subject of a Seminar Series in collaboration with NCAD’s MA Art in the Contemporary World.
