Making paintings out of cloth and other found elements, New York painter Joe Fyfe, is relatively under-known, at least in Europe. Fyfe also curates, notably Le Tableau at Cheim & Read last year, and writes pretty widely on art. Here is a link to Fyfe talking with Merlin James and James Hyde in Modern Painters. An interview in Bomb, with Josh Blackwell another artist who seems to have moved from paint to making ‘paintings’ out of other stuff, is here.
